Safe Sport

St. John's 2025 is for everyone.

OVERVIEW

The Canada Games Council (CGC) believes that everyone involved in sport has the right to participate in a safe and inclusive environment that is free of abuse, harassment or discrimination.

OUR COMMITMENT

The CGC is committed to ensuring a safe and positive environment within our programs, activities and events. We support equal opportunity, prohibit discriminatory practices and are committed to providing an inclusive environment free from harassment, abuse or discrimination. This includes providing access to a national Independent Third Party. The CGC has adopted the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport, as well as several other governing policies related to safe sport, which can be accessed through the CGC Safe Sport Policies tab below.

HOW TO REPORT

If you are reporting an incident that you believe is criminal in nature, please contact law enforcement authorities as soon as possible.

CGC Independent Third Party

If you believe an incident involving a representative of the CGC to be contrary to CGC policies, without necessarily being maltreatment, please report it to ITP Sport & Recreation Inc., the independent third party of the CGC, via the following confidential and anonymous reporting link.

Canadian Safe Sport Program

As of April 1, the CCES will accept reports through an online report form and by phone – both methods allow you to remain anonymous if you wish. If you choose to share your name when you make a report, the CCES will not share it with your sport organization unless it is necessary to keep you or someone else safe, and will make every effort to get your consent beforehand.

SAFE SPORT TRAINING INFO

As part of our commitment to safe sport, Canada Games Council representatives have all received safe sport training.

Beyond Canada Games Council representatives, other participants and stakeholders at the Canada Games (i.e. Host Societies, representatives from Provincial/Territorial teams) must complete safe sport training as per their own mandated requirements.
