Environmental Initiatives

Environmental Initatives

Welcome to our Green Games.

Water Refill Stations will be available at all competition venues during the games. Post games, these stations will be given to the community for continued use long after 2025!

Fill it Forward Stickers will be given to athletes, volunteers, attendees, and community members to track their usage of reusable water bottles, and associated plastic waste diverted. Not only does each scan track these efforts to reduce plastic, but each scan generates a donation to charity!

Canada Games Environmental Impact

For the first time ever, the 2025 Canada Games will be tracking the total environment impact. There are four key areas we are tracking…

- Greenhouse Gas (both direct and indirect) emissions associated with hosting and delivering the 2025 Canada Games
- Energy Usage across all Canada Games venues and activities
- Water Usage across all Canada Games venues and activities
- Waste Generation and waste diversion through recycling and composting across all Canada Games venues and activities

Free Public Transportation offered to anyone with valid 2025 Canada Games tickets or credentials at Games time.

Food Rescue efforts at the Canada Games include collaborating with Second Harvest to redistribute surplus food to local charities and non-profits organizations.

Post Games Donations Post Games donations include medical supplies and sporting equipment, redirecting waste from landfills to benefit communities and organizations locally.
