(St. John’s, NL - August 11, 2025) — Out of an abundance of caution, the 2025 Canada Games Host Society is making several sport venue changes for Tuesday, August 12, due to the evacuation preparedness alert issued Monday evening by the Town of Paradise and the Town of Conception Bay South

Box Lacrosse and Soccer events originally scheduled in the affected areas will be relocated, and Beach Volleyball will be postponed.

“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the fires,” said Karen Sherriffs, CEO of the 2025 Canada Games Host Society. “The safety of athletes, coaches, participants, and volunteers is our top priority. We are monitoring the situation closely and working with the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre, the City of St. John’s, the Towns of Paradise and Conception Bay South, and our National Sport Organizations to adjust competition plans as needed.”

Sport Schedule Updates for Tuesday, August 12 

• Lacrosse will move from Paradise Double Ice Complex to DF Barnes Arena

• Soccer games scheduled at Conception Bay South Soccer Field will be moved to the Fortis Canada Games Complex and King George for the remainder of Week 1 competition.
• Sailing is postponed.
• Beach Volleyball is postponed.

Volunteers 

• Volunteers with affected shifts will be contacted directly by the Host Society Volunteer Services team.

Tickets

• Tickets for impacted events will be honoured at the new venues.

ARTA VISTA Festival

• ARTA VISTA @ Banished scheduled for Tuesday evening has been postponed.
