(St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador - August 24, 2025) — After 18 incredible days of sport, spirit, and celebration, the 30th edition of the Canada Games officially comes to a close tonight with a sold-out Closing Ceremony presented by Keyin College at 7:30 p.m. NST at the Mary Brown’s Centre in downtown St. John’s.
Since August 8, the province has been buzzing with excitement in a collective celebration of excellence in sport and culture in Canada. Over 5,000 participants, 5,000 dedicated volunteers, and thousands of visitors experienced Canada’s largest multi-sport event and one of the biggest events ever hosted in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Featuring 19 sports, over 244 events, the 2025 Canada Games were the largest in Canada Games history, which included the first-ever female baseball and para-cycling competitions in the history of the Canada Games. The celebration extended beyond sport through the 14-day ARTA VISTA Festival, which highlighted the vibrant culture and artistry of the province and the country.
Tonight’s Closing Ceremony, presented by Keyin College, is a showcase of Newfoundland and Labrador’s iconic music and storytelling, honouring the athletes who inspired us and the communities that brought this event to life. The Ceremony will also include the traditional handover of the Canada Games flag to representatives from the 2027 Canada Winter Games, marking the official transition to the next host.
The Closing Ceremony is sold out but the show will be live-streamed on CanadaGames.ca/Watch, NTV, and CBC’s digital platforms: CBC Sports, Radio-Canada Sports, and CBC Gem.
